Concrete slabs, like your driveway, sidewalk, pool deck, patio, and basement floor, do not bend or adjust with these ever-changing soil conditions. Instead, they crack. Then homeowners like you are left with uneven, sunken concrete that is not only an eye-sore, but also a dangerous trip hazard.

Luckily there’s a way to fix sunken concrete slabs: concrete lifting. There are a few concrete lifting methods, like traditional mudjacking. Polyurethane Foam Jacking vs. Mudjacking

Both polyurethane concrete leveling and mudjacking are effective methods of concrete slab replacement. Both involve raising concrete in order to avoid removing and replacing your concrete. The methods are fairly similar, with a few key differences.

Traditional Mudjacking

When you choose mudjacking to repair your sunken concrete slab, we drill holes about 1 5/8″ in size into the concrete. We then fill these holes with a cement, aggregate, and water mixture, which raises the concrete to its original position. While this method is effective, it often requires more injection holes and longer cure time.

It’s important to note that mudjacking can only be used on concrete slabs that are not attached to your foundation.

Polyurethane Concrete Leveling

On the other hand, PolyJacking Concrete Leveling process uses state-of-the-art technology to drill smaller holes that are only 5/8 of an inch—that’s the size of a dime! We inject these holes with void-filling, high-density polyurethane foam that will level concrete.

Polyfoam is light-weight, made of recycled material, and only weighs 2-4 pounds per cubic foot, which leads to less pressure on your soil (and can prevent water penetration at your home’s foundation).

Our State-of-the-Art Process

After installing portholes in the existing concrete, Helitech will fill voids by injecting a polyurethane foam into them using a special hydraulic system. The high-density foam undergoes a chemical reaction which causes it expand. This raises the surface of the slab to the desired height. The core holes are then filled with Portland cement and repaired to produce a smooth, level surface.

Polyurethane leveling also assists with soil stabilization by flowing and expanding into loose soil beneath the concrete slab.
